DEGREE TO BE AWARDED

Ayurvedacharya (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery- B.A.M.S)
The Candidate shall be awarded Ayurvedacharya (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery-B.A.M.S)
degree after passing the final examination, and thereafter satisfactorily completing the compulsory rotatory
internship extending over twelve months.

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTIONS

Sanskrit, Hindi, any recognized regional language or English.

FIRST PROF. EXAMINATIONS

The first year examination will be at the end of one academic year of first year session.
The first year session will ordinarily start in August .
The first year examination shall be held in the following subjects:-
l. Padarth Vigyan avam Anrrved Ka Itihas
2. Sanskrit
3. Kriya Sharir (Physiology)
4. Rachna Sharir (Anatomy)
5. Maulik Siddhant avam Ashtang Hridaya (Sutra sthan)
A student failed in not more than two subjects shall be held eligible to keep the terms for the second
year course, however he/she will not be allowed to appear for second year examination
unless he/she passes in all the subjects of the first year.

SECOND  PROF.   EXAMINATIONS

I) The second year session will start every year in the month of july following completion of first
year examination.
The second year examination will be ordinarily held and completed by the end of months of
May/june every year after completion of one year of second year session.
II) The second year examination will be held in the following subjects:-
l. Dravyaguna Vigyan (Pharmacology and Materia Medica)
2. RasShastra-BhaishjyaKalpana(PharmaceuticalScience)
3. Agad Tantra, Vyavhar Ayurved avam Vidhi vaidyaka (Toxicology and Medical furisprudence)
4. Charak-Purvardha

III) A student failed in not more than two subjects shall be held eligible to keep the terms for the third year examination, however he/she will not be allowed to appear for Third year examination
unless he/she passes in all the subjects of Second year examination

FINAL PROF. EXAMINATIONS

(i) The third year session will start every year in the month of july following completion of second
year examination.
The third year examination will be ordinarily held and completed by the end of the month of
May/june every year after completion of one year of third year session .
The Third year examination will be held in the following subjects:-
1.Rog Nidan avam Vikriti Vigyan (Pathology & Microbiology)
2.Charak Samhita- Uttarardh
3.kaumar Bhritya
4.Prasuti Tantra

5.Shalya Tantra (General Surgery)
6. ShalakyaT antra( Diseases of head & neck including ophthalmology,ENT and dentistry).
7. Kaya-Chikitsa( Internal medicine-including manas roga,rasayan & vajikarana).
8. Panchkarma
9. Research methodology & Medical-statistics

III) A student failed in not more than two subjects will be held eligible to keep the terms for the third year examination, however he/she will not be allowed to appear for Third year examination unless he/she passes in all the subjects of Second year examination.

COMPULSORY INTERNSHIP

Duration of Internship: l year.
The student will join the compulsory internship programme after passing year examination. The internship programme will start after the declaration of the result of final year examination. The period of the internship will be of one year.

Internship programme and time distribution will be as follows :-
1. The interns will receive an orientation regarding programme details of internship programme during the
first three days of the beginning of internship programme. A workbook will be given to each intern. The
intern will enter date wise details of activities undertaken by him/her during his/her training.
2. Every intern will provisionally register himself with the concerned state board/council and obtain a
certificate to this effect before joining the internship programme
3. Daily working hours of intern will not be less than eight hours.
4. Normally one year internship progamme will be divided into clinical training of six months in the Ayurvedic hospital attached to the college and six months in PHC / CHC / Rural Hospital / District Hospital/Civil Hospital or any Govt. Hospital of modern medicine. But where there is no provision / permission of the state Government for allowing the graduate of Ayurveda in the hospital/dispensary of modern medicine, the one year internship will be completed in the hospital of Ayurvedic college

RESERVATIONS

The reservation in government quota seat will be as follows-(Total:34%)
(a) Schedule caste – 25%
(b) Backward class -5%
(c) Handicap – 3%
(d) Migrants from j&k due to terrorist violence
Explanation – the following points shall be observed while granting above reservationboth in government and in private institutes:

1. The candidate undercategory of orthopedic handicap shall be admitted only if he /she has locomotive disability of lower limbs between 50% to 70% and with this disability he/ she is otherwise found fit medically to pursue the concerned course by the medical board duly constituted by the governmentsand consisting of heads of the respective departments of medical institutes at patial , amritsar and faridkot of the specialty concerned . Similarly for the candidates opting under visual/hearing impairment category,the admission shall be made if the candidate is otherwise found fit medically to pursue the concerned courseby the said medical board.

2. For the claim of reservation in category 5a
(viii) wards of punjabi police personnel , punjab armed police, punjab home guards, and para- Military forces
(in order of preference to the exclusion of next category)
(a) killed in action
(b) Disabled in action to the extent of 50%
(c) winners of president’s police medal for gallantry.
a certificate to this effect issued by inspector general police (HQ). punjab shall have to be produced while submitting other documents . in case of paramilitary forces this certificate shall be countersigned by IG police (HQ) punjab .

3. Reservation under category
(vi) wards of terrorists affected persons (in order of preference in the exclusion of next category)(As per decision of the hon’ble supreme court)
(a) persons killed in terrorists action in punjab/ riots outside punjab.
(b) terrorist/ riot affected / disabled persons
shall be give only to those where bread winner has been killed.

4. The above reservation will be made in each course/institutes separately subject to the availability of seats as per instruction issued by the government of punjab from time to time.

5. The Sports quota admission in category (v) sports persons – (credits will be given for the sports achievements made during 10+1 and 10+2 classes only and shall be graded by the director sports , punjab) shall be made out of the eligible candidates as per requirement of minimum marks in PAET and other conditions of this notification, while the merit inter – se shall be determined on the basis of sports achievements 10+1 and 10+2 as graded by director sports, punjab.

6. The 25% quota of sc shall be calculated on the total seats in the government institutes.

7. Students claiming benefit of reservation under SC/BC category will be required to produce a certificate from the competent authority as per instruction of the department of welfare no.1/41/96-RCi/1001-17 dated 17/01/1994(for Bc) as amended from time to time and in the Bc certificate income of the family from all sources must be recorded.

8. Candidate belonging to SC/BC will be eligible for admission as per their combined merit in PAET in general category also if they opt for the same. However, on the same day of counseling the candidate shall be able to opt for category seat also if he/she is eligible and opts for the same. There shall be constitutional reservation in the management Quota in the private institutes but there shall be no reservation in minority institutes.

9. The counseling for all categories shall be held as per common merit of PAET on the specified days published by the university. The reserve category candidates shall be eligible to opt for a general seat or a reserve seat or a reserve seat on a day of counseling where his/her merit falls. The dates of PAET, counseling and admissions will be decided by director, research and medical Education, Punjab, Guru Ravidas Ayurveda University, Hoshiarpur.

10. Seats filled on all India bases, after exhausting Punjab candidates, the reservation shall be 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, and % for Handicapped. Seats remaining vacant under any category shall be merged with the general category seats only, except for NRI seats in private institutions which will be converted to management quota.

FOREIGN INDIAN STUDENT -NRI SEATS

SEATS:- 15% seats in all private institutes/university college and specified number of seats in government Institutes shall be earmarked for the Non Resident Indians in the following order of priority to the exclusion of next category below:-

Category I: – NRIs who originally belonged to the State of Punjab.

Category II: – NRIs who originally belonged to an Indian start other than Punjab.

The institute wise detail of seats under this quota can be downloaded from the website of university. The NRI quota in private institutes will be a part of the management quota.

The candidate for NRI seats will be admitted on merit determined on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination equivalent to 10+2 examination of P.S.E.B./C.B.S.E./I.C.S.E. In physics, chemistry, biology and English (PCB) taken together. The equivalence, merit and eligibility of the candidates will be determined by the Guru Ravidas Ayurveda University, Hoshiarpur, who will issue an eligibility certificate to ayurvedic colleges, against NRI seats the candidate shall apply to Guru Ravidas Ayurveda University Hoshiarpur on the prescribed form for NRI seats.

(a) If sufficient number of candidates under first category is eligible and available then they will be admitted first even if students under subsequent category are higher in merit.

(b) The NRI students will have to give a bank guarantee/surety bond for the balance of fee, if they opt to pay the fee in installments as provides.

(c) Any seats remaining vacant under NRI quota till last date of admission in state college shall go to general pool and in the private colleges shall go to the special management/minority quota. Under such management Quota Seats, first priority shall be given to PAET ranking and residual seats, if any, shall be filled in accordance with inter-se-merit of eligible candidates

( d ) NRI unfilled seats under management will be filled by management itself,however,it’s fee shall not exceed double than management quota fee or NRI quota fee whichever is lower.

D.PHARMACY (Ayurveda)

The institute is running a two year Diploma course in parmacy(ayurveda).The candidate is awarded as Diploma in Upvaid D.PHARMACY (Ayurveda) after passing the final examinations.The diploma couse is affiliated to Punjab State Faculty of Ayurvedic & Unani System of Medicine,Chandigarh Since 2014.

GENERAL RULES

1.The students admitted shall be required to attend the class from day one of the beginning of the classes. Students remaining absent for 7-consecutive working days from the beginning of class may be struck off the rolls without any intimation and seat/seats thus rendered vacant may be offered to the next candidate on merit.
2. Students should be regular in attendance.They should be punctual in attending every period and late comers’ will not be allowed to enter the class.
3. A student habitually irregular attendance and negligent in studies may be asked to leave the college at any time during the course of session.
4. The college keeps the date wise attendance record of each student. Parents/Guardians are advised to check the attendance record of their ward in office of the college.They must visit the college office atleast once a month to check the attendance and progress of their ward.
5. In case of resident student remaining absent from class,found engaged in undesirable pursuits,disciplinary action will be taken against the student and the parents/Guardians will be informed accordingly and his/her name shall be removed from the college
6. Leave for absence from the classes must be taken from the Heads of Departments Students returning late from leave are required to make up ‘the time missed in summer/Winter vactions with the permission of the Principal.In case of an illness,a medical certificate by a qualified doctor, must be sent immediately.
7 If the name of the student is struck off from the college rolls for the non-payment of the college dues or due to other reasons after his/her admission form has been sent to the university for examination his/her admission form will be withdrawn by the principal without any notice to the student or his/her parents/Guardians.
8 A student,who wishes to leave the college or hostel permanently must apply on the application, the student should deposit the dues upto date.
9 students should keep the college identity card with them while in the college and produce it when demanded by any offical of faculty member
10.Get a receipt of every payment made to the college
11. In case of a quarrel or dispute, a written complaint should be made to the principal at once. None is allowed to take law in his/her hands.
12. Students should not disfigure or disface walls of the college.
13. Sudents are not allowed to paste notice within the institution without prior permission from the office of the Principal and are forbidden to communicate with any outside authority directly. All such communications must be submitted through the principal, who will forward these if considered desirable. Any student infringing this rule may be suspended.
14. Students must keep themselves from active way politics in the interest of their studies.
15. Students are not allowed to possess obscene and vulgar books or any literature of this category.
16. Maintain perfect silence in class room, reading places and in college campus.
17. Students are strictly prohibited to stand near classroom and in the corridors in their vacant period.
18. No migration is allowed unless a student passes the first prof. B.A.M.S. course.
19. Students seeking admission should clearly note that migration will not be permitted as a matter of right.
20. All the admissions are provisional and subject to final approval of GRAU, Hoshiarpur.
21. If the statements made by candidate at the time of admission are discovered to be false at subsequent time, he/she shall be removed from the college roll and the fees paid up to date of such removal shall be forfeited. Principal may take action against such candidates.
22. Student must pay for all damages caused by them to books or other college property. Breakage of the apparatus must be paid for by the student.
23. Strictly forbidden, in any part of the institution are:-
* Smoking
* The possession or use of addictive or hallucinogenic drugs
* Loitering specifically asked, students are not supposed to stay in the college campus after their classes are over. Disciplinary action will be taken against the students violating this rule.
24. Students are not permitted to use the college telephone.
25. Ragging of first year students is forbidden and is punishable by fine, suspension or expulsion from the college. Ragging is defined as willful injury or threat of injury, physical or mental, to any fellow student. Ragging includes willfully degrading or humiliating a fellow whereby he/she suffers distress of mind or spirit.
26. Students must arrange for washable apron, which are to be worn at all time in the college laboratories and on hospital duty and also have their own dissecting instruments.
27. College fee must be paid in full by the dates notified from time to time. Any student whose fees, together with the fine imposed, are still unpaid will be suspended from attending lectures, practicals, clinical etc. Until he or she clears his/her dues.
28. All irregularities, neglect of duties, break of rules and indiscipline are to be brought to the notice of the principal. The principal, in consultation with the staff members, shall deal with any serious offence, for which an adverse entry in personal life/student record register will be made and punishment may be either a written or a verbal warning, and/or removal/expulsion from the college. The principal is competent to remit the fine imposed by him.

Note:-The infringement of the code of conduct and disobedience of the college rules by the student shall make him/her liable for punishment and disciplinary action. Character certificate shall not be issued to such students.

The rules and regulations, including fees to be charged, are subject to revision and amendment from time to time and revised decision will be applicable irrespective of those given in the prospectus.

UNIVERSITY RULES REGARDING RAGGING AND ITS PREVENTION

The word ‘ ragging mean the act of teasing , taunting playing a practical joke upon someone or holding Comic parades and other activities during certain period of a college terms

But over the year , the word regging ceased to denote the healthy practice it used to be and has acquired more negative connotation and notoriety . now a day ‘ragging’ may include:

Display of noisy , disorderly conduct, teasing excitement by rough or rude treatment or handling , indulging in rowdy , undisciplined activities which cause or likely to cause annoyance, under hardship,Physical or psychological harm or raise apprehension or fear in a fresher or asking the students to do any act or perform something which such a student will not do in the ordinary course and which causes him/her shame or embarrassment or danger to his/her life

To prevent ragging some state governments enacted legislation defining ragging suggesting preventiveMeasures and punishment the university grants commission strongly recommends that every educational institution should take steps to curb the menace of ragging

Every institution should implement the following measures to prevent ragging
  1. At the commencement of academic session, the head of the institution may address a meeting of various agencies like wardens , representatives of students, parents/ guardians, faculty, police and other law and order machinery with an appeal to help to eradicate the menace of ragging the institution completely .
  2. At the commencement of academic session, the institution should constitute a vigilance committee consisting of senior faculty members , some hostel authorities like wardens and few responsible senior students of all the classes.
